Country

Kazakhstan

Two spots carry Kazakhstan's kite scene, and they don't share a coastline.

Soldatka sits on the Caspian shoreline at Aktau, a city beach with chop that runs best March-April and June-July. Inland, Maloe Chebachye is a freshwater lake beach near Akylbay in the Shchuchinsk-Burabay resort district, flat water logging 251 windy days a year and an April/November peak for weekenders out of Astana.

It's a country for riders passing through rather than building a trip around, with the two spots barely related beyond the flag.

The Kazakhstan country guide — entry rules, money, driving and local kite rules — is not written yet.

When to go

month by month, from the towns' own wind series

No month-by-month figure for this country

None of its places carries a wind series this page can read, so there is no monthly share to draw.

Which place is yours

the most spots first

Single spots with no town of their own

The cards are in the order of how many spots each place holds. None of them carries a wind score: the atlas scores wind reliability one spot at a time, against a named weather station and the distance to it, and a place that groups several spots has no single station to stand behind one number. The month calendar above is what this page can say about the wind.

The same places as the cards above, by name, in the order this country guide lists them rather than the biggest first.
