Country

Switzerland

One spot carries the whole country: Lake Silvaplana, in the Upper Engadin at altitude, where the Malojawind — a south/southwest thermal that fills in from late morning — turns the lake flat to chop from July into October, with a shoulder window in May and June.

The official Kitebeach near Sportzentrum Mulets by Surlej is the established launch. It's a mountain-lake spot, not a coastal one, and suits riders who want reliable thermal wind with altitude rather than a choice of coastlines.

The Switzerland country guide — entry rules, money, driving and local kite rules — is not written yet.

When to go

month by month, from the towns' own wind series

No month-by-month figure for this country

None of its places carries a wind series this page can read, so there is no monthly share to draw.

Which place is yours

the most spots first

Single spots with no town of their own

The cards are in the order of how many spots each place holds. None of them carries a wind score: the atlas scores wind reliability one spot at a time, against a named weather station and the distance to it, and a place that groups several spots has no single station to stand behind one number. The month calendar above is what this page can say about the wind.

The same places as the cards above, by name, in the order this country guide lists them rather than the biggest first.
