Providenciales anchors the scene at Long Bay Beach, a three-mile southeast-facing sand strip where trade winds blow cross-on nearly year-round, with a clean sandy bottom that's made it one of the Caribbean's strongest lesson beaches.

Middle Caicos holds the alternative: Half Moon Bay Lagoon, a shallow flat-water sandbar reached only by boat or kite safari. It suits beginners logging hours at Provo and experienced riders willing to travel for an empty lagoon.
