Silver Beach at Kurnell is one of Sydney's windiest bay spots, running flat water near the rock groynes on a NE summer sea breeze, though the narrow beach and close groynes keep it from being a true beginner free-for-all. Bar Beach in Newcastle is straight ocean wave riding, rated a 7/10 hazard by surf lifesavers and built for intermediate and advanced riders only.
