Kitesurfing in La Guajira

3 spots · 1 destination · 4 schools

Punta Gallinas sits at the northernmost point of mainland South America, and getting there is part of the spot: flat lagoons and bays, the La Boquita channel, open-sea points and wave riding off the Taroa dunes, all inside one remote kite area.

The trade season runs an unusually long December through August. Independent riders should already be intermediate or better, since downwind routes cross open water and can meet waves up to 2-3 meters.

La Guajira holds 3 kitesurf spots in our atlas, grouped into 1 destination. Riding here is mostly flat water and lagoons. The season runs January to September. 2 of them suits beginners. 4 schools operate in the region.
