Kitesurfing in Louisiana
4 spots · 1 destination · 2 schools
Louisiana's spots split by water: Elmer's Island's wildlife-refuge lagoon is waist-deep, mud-bottomed and rideable in nearly any wind - genuinely good for learning, with the Gulf beach a hundred yards away for anyone who wants waves.
Grand Isle adds a long barrier-island beach broken by jetties, Cypremort Point a tight, brackish, west-facing bay session, and Lake Pontchartrain's Bucktown and West End launches - blunt about it - are not for beginners at all.
Louisiana holds 4 kitesurf spots in our atlas, grouped into 1 destination. Riding here is mostly lagoons. 2 of them suits beginners. 2 schools operate in the region. The busiest areas are Jefferson Parish.
