modelled
A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it, run over 2023-2024. Good for comparing one place with another, weaker for one beach.
Wind on the beach
- Cross-shore is the usual description on the main Pak Nam Pran and Khao Kalok strip, in both the north-wind and the south-wind season, with a sandy bottom and no offshore component on a normal day. side-offshore is also reported for the area, so confirm the day's angle with a school before you rig; which segment you launch from changes it.
- July to September the southwest monsoon is often straight offshore.
What the spot record warns about
- tidal sandbank exposure typical of this coastline
- less developed - fewer schools/rescue resources on site than Pak Nam Pran or Hua Hin
- Rocky Khao Kalok/Thao Ko Sa headland sits downwind or nearby depending on launch and wind direction; kitesurfers were blown onto the rocks in 2021 and again in 2025, the second time fatally.
- Strong waves and high water can make rescue near the headland difficult.
- Red jellyfish/jellyfish are reported; wear skin protection and ask locals about current blooms.
- Tidal sandbanks and very shallow areas, especially in the February-June flat-water season.
