Before you pack
2 points
- Call ahead and confirm the current fee by phone before flying - the published tiered fee ($50/$100/$150) may have been superseded by a flat $150-each-way rate with a 2-board limit, and gate and phone agents quote differently from the website.
- Book the board-bag space at least 48 hours ahead; smaller 737 variants reportedly cap total board bags per flight.
What riders report at the counter
2 reports
- One traveller was told by phone that Copa moved to a flat $150 per surfboard each way, limited to 2 boards per bag, from around August 1 (the year is not stated). That contradicts the older published $50/$100/$150 tiered structure and does not appear on Copa's own site, so ask when you book.
- ConnectMiles Prefer members and Star Alliance Gold members are reported to be exempt from the sports equipment charge.
