Before you pack
3 points
- Try to keep board bags under 158cm combined dimension to avoid any oversize surcharge
- Bring a printed copy of EgyptAir's sports-equipment policy to check-in, since gate/counter staff interpretation of what counts as 'sports equipment' varies
- Arrive well ahead of the standard check-in cutoff, 90+ minutes, if travelling with an oversize board bag
What riders report at the counter
2 reports
- One traveller checked in a 125cm board bag containing a 129cm board plus 2 kites by describing the contents as fishing rods and a camera tripod at the special/oversize baggage counter, and was not charged extra — enforcement and staff interpretation vary considerably
- EgyptAir's standard piece limit is 158cm, with a 50% surcharge band for 158-203cm oversize sports gear
