Before you pack

2 points

  1. Remove or protect fins/keels as required by Etihad's packing rules
  2. Declare kiteboard/water-sports equipment at booking rather than relying on it being accepted as a normal bag, since some fare types have shorter length caps for unlabeled baggage

What riders report at the counter

2 reports

  • One rider checked 4 bags (board bag, kite bag, 2 clothing bags, ~20kg per person) London-Vietnam with no problems or extra charges both ways
  • Another traveller flying Etihad to Thailand was told a 150cm-long bag would not be accepted: staff quoted a 90cm maximum permitted length for that fare and bag type. Length limits are enforced unevenly by staff and fare class, so describe the bag as 'sports/kite equipment' when you book
