Before you pack
2 points
- If flying to/from California, check as a surfboard/paddleboard to get the oversize fee waived -- United does not name kiteboards in that waiver.
- Keep total weight under 50 lb/23 kg to avoid the additional overweight surcharge stacking on top of the oversize fee.
What riders report at the counter
1 report
- Riders sometimes get a windsurf or kite board bag accepted as an 'SUP board' to dodge the oversize charge. It depends on the agent and it is not policy.
