  • Sports equipment.
  • Vietnam Airlines' official sports-baggage page explicitly lists 'surfboards, surfing kites, surfing sails' together as accepted sports equipment, so kite gear has a category of its own here, not just surfboards.

Before you pack

3 points

  1. Contact a Vietnam Airlines branch office or Customer Care Center at least 24 hours before departure and give exact dimensions - this is a mandatory pre-notification, not optional
  2. Because 'surfing kites' are named explicitly, declaring gear honestly as kite equipment should be accepted without needing to disguise it as a surfboard
  3. Package with no sharp edges (bar/lines protruding is flagged as a rejection risk in general sports-baggage rules)
