Le Morne, on the southwest tip, pairs a shallow reef lagoon for freeride and freestyle with One Eye, the hollow outer-reef left-hander that draws committed wave riders; both run best June through November on the southeast trade.

The east coast strings together a chain of lagoon spots - Trou d'Eau Douce, Palmar, Poste Lafayette, Pointe d'Esny - flatter and more forgiving for the same season. Ten spots total, from resort-lagoon cruising to one of the Indian Ocean's genuine wave breaks.
