Almojawah Bay is a real kite venue with one heavy piece of proof behind it: the Qatar Airways GKA Freestyle-Kite World Cup ran here in October 2022 as the opening event of the NEOM Beach Games.

Event conditions

The competition water was a flat lagoon with purpose-built facilities, clean takeoffs and consistent landings, which is what freestyle wants. Wind was best in the mornings, strong enough on some days for an impromptu big-air format, and variable enough on others to drop mid-round or turn difficult. Outside event weeks the picture thins out fast.

Coast and hazards

The wider Sharma coast is Red Sea and Gulf of Aqaba terrain: sand, islands, coral. Shallow reef and tidal exposure are what to take seriously.
