How do you get to Texel?
Take the TESO car ferry from Den Helder, a 30-minute crossing departing roughly hourly between 06:30 and 21:30; book ahead in peak season since queues build on busy summer days.
Do I need a car on Texel?
Not essential - bikes are the preferred way to get around and buses run on a schedule timed to the ferry - but a car makes hauling kite gear easier.
Is Texel suitable for beginners?
De Koog (Paal 17) is the island's main beginner-friendly area with a dedicated kite school running since 2005, while De Cocksdorp's Vuurtoren spot at the northern tip is an advanced location.
