Porto puts two spots on either side of the Douro mouth: the urban surf beach at Matosinhos, wedged against a mole and rated intermediate and up, and Cabedelo do Douro just south in Vila Nova de Gaia, where the river bank stays flatter while the ocean side breaks in the 15-25 knot March-to-August window.
