Praia de Candeias

Nearby Pontal de Maria Farinha 39 km · straight-line distance

Candeias is a 3 km urban beach in Jaboatão dos Guararapes, south of Recife in Pernambuco, and the kiting happens on the stretch near Academia do Gol, just past the Bompreco.
The wind is SE, side-onshore, and reportedly blows most of the year; the only numbers anywhere are from Recife International Airport, which averages 9 kt with gusts of 23 kt, and that is an airport reading, not the beach. Nobody has published a monthly wind statistic for Candeias itself.
The water is broken and wavy in sections, 26-28 C, no wetsuit. One local operation teaches windsurf, kitesurf and SUP here, including a five-class kitesurf course, which makes this a lesson and freeride beach for people already in Recife rather than somewhere to fly in for.
Bathers and beach traffic share the sand, the beach is tidal, and the wider Jaboatão/Recife coast has a shark history, with bathing-restriction signs standing at neighbouring Piedade after an attack there. REC is about 20 minutes away by taxi.
Where you rig, what the launch rules are and who comes to get you: ask the school, because none of it is written down.

modelled

A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it. Good for comparing places, weaker for one beach.

Modelled from weather reanalysis on a 10–25 km grid (2022-2024), not a ground station: reliable for trade and synoptic winds, understates thermal sea breezes and valley winds. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.
