Before you pack
4 points
- Register kitesurf equipment online at time of booking, or later via 'Mijn Transavia' before online check-in closes, to lock in the EUR44/EUR88 fee.
- Do not pack clothing or other non-kite items inside the kite bag - Transavia treats it as a dedicated special-baggage category.
- Booking under the watersport-equipment category can add an extra 15kg of allowance versus a standard bag.
- Expect to be sent to the oversized/odd-baggage belt at check-in rather than the normal drop-off.
What riders report at the counter
4 reports
- The kite bag has to be handed over at the oversized/odd-baggage counter because it won't fit on the standard conveyor belt — check-in staff direct you there, it's routine rather than a problem.
- If everything (board + kites + bar) is packed inside the kite bag and stays under the 32kg limit, agents generally don't make a fuss — problems arise mainly from exceeding weight or mixing in extra loose items.
- One rider taking kite gear to Lanzarote found the cost unexpectedly high — register the equipment correctly and early rather than at the airport.
- Transavia has generally become stricter on baggage sizing and weight enforcement at the gate in recent seasons.
