Good to know before you go2
- Marina Palmense's exact facilities and launch access beyond 'associated with ASD Tribalkite' are thinly documented; verify current school/rigging arrangements locally.
- Kite Beach Civitanova is oriented around equipment testing and beginner lessons rather than a general free-ride beach — check current operating status before planning around it.
The spots
Marina Palmense
Marina Palmense is a sandy strip of Adriatic beach on the Fermo coast in Marche, just south of Porto San Giorgio, and the kiting on it revolves around ASD Tribalkite, the local club and school.

The model here carries the month's average wind rather than a count of windy days: it reaches 10.3 kt in November, the strongest month it models for this spot.
Marina Palmense: the long version, the launch and the rules
More on Marina Palmense
The water is flat to choppy and standable, and the tide does not matter. Usable wind arrives NNW or SSE, both side-shore, and a southeast Scirocco is the direction the locals wait for. The sand is fine at the launch, but there is gravel farther south and rocks that surface near the southern beach, so look before you body-drag downwind. Summer is the awkward season: bathing-season corridor rules, beach users and wavebreakers all eat into the space you have. Seasonality is the open question, since one line of guidance gives May to September while another points at February to April and November to December, which is a wide enough spread that a live wind station beats any season table before you commit to the drive. Beginners can start here, but not on their own.
Getting on the water
Medium sandy launch used by ASD Tribalkite. The beach is wide enough to lay kites out properly, and there are changing rooms nearby.
If it goes wrong
No public rescue boat sits on this beach. Under the 2022 district regulation, whoever holds the authorization for a kite launch corridor has to keep a craft able to recover a rider in an emergency, a first-aid kit, and a VHF radio for calling the Porto San Giorgio Coast Guard operations room on channel 16. Outside the bathing season, or on a day with no corridor rigged, that cover is simply not there. Sea emergencies: 1530 free around the clock, or 112; the Ancona rescue centre is 071 502101 and the San Benedetto del Tronto Coast Guard 0735 586711; the Fermo hospital emergency department is 0734 6252261.
Rules and access
2022 pleasure-craft regulation for the Porto San Giorgio maritime district, the current published version, running from the Chienti river mouth (excluded) to Campofilone (included) and so covering Marina Palmense. During the bathing season the first 300 m from shore belong to bathers, and kitesurf, windsurf and surf craft use the authorized launch corridors: 30 m wide at the beach, widening to 80 m at 250 m out, bounded to 300 m by paired lines of orange buoys 20 m apart, the outermost 80 cm across, and used for launching and landing only. Corridors are public and free to use whoever installed them, and the permit is applied for at the municipality. Kiting is dawn to sunset, in favourable meteo-marine conditions. Riders must be at least 16, with no minimum age under a national federation or Lega Navale school, must wear a flotation aid at all times, must carry a quick-release and a safety line on the kite, and must launch and return by body-drag out to 100 m, one kite at a time in that strip, right of way to whoever is coming back in. It is forbidden to leave a kite unattended without disconnecting one side of the wing and winding the lines back on the bar. Whoever operates the corridor keeps a rescue craft, a first-aid kit and a VHF radio on channel 16 ready.
Kite Beach Civitanova
Kite Beach Civitanova is the equipped school and test area on the beach south of the harbour at Civitanova Marche, the patch where Flysurfer gear gets tested and where most people here take a first lesson.

Kite Beach Civitanova: the long version, the launch and the rules

The water is central Adriatic chop with small wind waves, standable depth, no tide to plan around, and a long beach with room to lay lines out. Wind is light but rideable at 10-16 kt, best at 16-22 kt, and a heavier day at 22-28 kt when the chop turns disordered. Working directions are Bora from NE, Levante from E and Scirocco from SE, with NNW and SSE running side-shore. The mole is the thing to respect: drift towards harbour concrete is a poor way to end a session. May-September is the listed season, though locals ride it off the forecast all year. Summer brings bathers, a packed beach and a corridor whose exact 2026 text is not published for this launch.
Getting on the water
Equipped Kite Beach area at Civitanova Marche used for Flysurfer equipment testing and first kitesurf lessons; the riding beach is south of the harbour.
If it goes wrong
No kite-specific rescue. Through the bathing season the concessions and the town must keep a lifeguard on duty every day for at least eight continuous hours, 10:00 to 18:00, with the periods and hours posted at the beach access; outside that window the rule is a red flag and a sign saying the service is not running, which is exactly the sort of day a kiter turns up on. At sea the numbers are 1530, the coast guard blue number, and 112; the Civitanova Marche harbour office is on +39 0733 810395.
Rules and access
2026: the bathing-safety ordinance for the Civitanova Marche maritime district (prot. 11 of 9 May 2026, covering Civitanova Marche, Potenza Picena and Porto Recanati, replacing no. 9/2025) reserves the strip of sea 300 m out from the waterline for bathers through the bathing season and forbids any craft inside it, kite-surf named alongside surf and windsurf. The only way across that strip is a marked public launch corridor, and swimming inside those corridors is banned in turn. The season is fixed by national law as the third week of May to the third week of September, with the region free to move either end by one week. Under the Ancona compartment navigation-limits ordinance 26/2023, kite-surf may work out to 1 nautical mile (1,852 m) from the coast and must stay at least 500 m off during the season, entering and leaving on a course perpendicular to the beach at minimum speed in displacement trim without wake; the speed ceiling in the inshore strip is 10 kt. Standing or riding on the breakwaters and harbour works is banned all year, and bathing is banned within 150 m of harbour mouths and inside a 300 m circle around the red light on the head of the east mole extension. The ordinance sets the corridor rules but does not publish where the corridor for this beach sits.

What riders say
4 recurring claims
Fishing nets sitting about half a metre under the surface are the hazard riders warn each other about at Marina Palmense. Several describe getting caught by the same net in one session and going back out with a knife to cut gear free; it is close enough to shore that people recover, but it recurs season after season.
consensus×3 riders
The wind is usually marginal and occasionally good. The sessions riders describe here cluster around 10-13 knots, with the memorable days being a scirocco blowing 15-20 — so expect to be on your largest kite most of the time.
majority×3 riders
Marina Palmense is the north-wind option for the local crowd, and when it does not deliver they drive down the coast rather than wait. Riders describe the Marche spots as a rotation you pick from on the day, not a single beach you commit to.
majority×2 riders
Civitanova barely registers as a place riders discuss. Search the Italian forums where this community argues about spots and Civitanova shows up as a place someone is selling a board or holding a regatta, not as a session anyone wrote up.
