The Côte d'Opale and Baie de Somme run on tide more than anything else: at Berck-sur-Mer the sea can retreat 2-3 km to leave flat baïnes for schools, while Gravelines' Petite Mer lagoon only forms for two or three hours around high water.
Cayeux, Fort-Mahon, Le Crotoy and Dunkerque - Malo-les-Bains round out a winter-season, synoptic-wind coast (October to March) with active local clubs at nearly every beach.

WissantCôte d'Opale - Wissant2026has a date window2026: Wissant municipal temporary order n 2026-AM-16 regulates beach policing and safety for July-August 2026 and sets supervised bathing daily from 1 July to 31 August 2026, 12:00 to 19:00. The kite rules themselves sit in the standing July-August beach order n 2024-AODP-82: kiting is allowed in daylight only and within 2 miles of the shore; rigging, de-rigging, launching and landing are banned in the bathing zone, in the 50 m buffer zone on each side of it and in the 50 m boat channel facing rue Arlette Davids, and across those zones you may ride only beyond the 300 m line.
Berck-sur-Mer (Grande Plage)Pas-de-Calais2026has a date window2026: Berck's municipal beach-surveillance order sets a zone d'évolution sportive from 1 June to 30 September, running from the 'OASI' dune to the extension of Avenue du Docteur Quettier, where swimming is prohibited and sport/kite activity is directed instead, flanked by 30 m buffer zones on each side over the same 1 June-30 September period.
Cayeux-sur-Mer - BrightonSomme, south Baie de Somme20262026: kites are banned in summer on the town beach at the chemin des planches entrance, where the parasols and the swimmers are. Riding is otherwise open except toward the protected Pointe du Hourdel.

Fort-Mahon-PlageSomme, Cote Picarde2007has a date window2007, and still carried on the town's list of permanent orders: kite-towed board sports are banned on the beach of Fort-Mahon-Plage and inside the 300 m band, from the boat park of the nautical base at the north end — the crossing channel included — down to the last building on rue des Vagues at the south end.
Gravelines - La Petite MerNord, Cote d'Opale20262026 Gravelines permanent beach order (Arrete permanent du Maire n 2026PERM020, 17 June 2026): during the July-August supervised bathing period, kitesurfing is forbidden in the zone west of the Petit-Fort-Philippe bathing zone (ZURB), which is reserved for human-powered craft, continuing a standing 1999 ban on kitesurf west of the bathing zone; kitesurfing is allowed in the zone east of the ZURB; outside the bathing zone, kitesurfers must stay at least 100 m east of the ZURB's east limit (30 m for paddle or kayak craft); a 5-knot speed limit applies year-round within the 300 m coastal band.
Le CrotoySomme, Baie de Somme20262026: inside the Baie de Somme nature reserve, keep 300 m from seal and bird resting or feeding areas, stay out of fenced or buoyed exclusions, keep high-sail sports including kitesurfing out of the reserve, and do not beach on purpose near the sandbanks the wildlife uses.
