Bavaria's kite lakes near Munich share one warning: tight launches, gusty shore wind and no room for raw beginners.

Walchensee's Zwergerlinsel runs its thermal window around midday with cold-water self-rescue required, Ammersee splits between west-to-southwest-driven Herrschinger Kreuz and the weaker, gustier Stegen on the north shore, and Altmühlsee's Surfcenter plus Brombachsee's Allmannsdorf run VDWS courses for riders who already have the basics.
