Kitesurfing in Karas

2 spots · 1 destination · 1 schools

Two spots outside Lüderitz, both on cold south Atlantic water and neither of them a holiday.

Second Lagoon is the speed strip, a dug channel aligned to about 140 degrees, with 35 knots and more several days a week in season and 50-65 on the big days; the channel has been too narrow for 27 m lines since 2023. In 2026 the organiser cancelled the Speed Challenge with no replacement date, which leaves no course and nothing watching the water. Guano Bay, out by Diaz Point facing Halifax Island, is stones, small waves and restricted diamond ground, so ask in town before you rig.

Karas holds 2 kitesurf spots in our atlas, grouped into 1 destination. Riding here is mostly flat water. The season runs August to December. 1 school operates in the region. The busiest areas are Lüderitz.
