Wind on the beach

• WSW, the dominant direction, blows off the land at the west-bank campsite launch, so it is offshore to cross-offshore there.
• NW through NE and SE through SW are the sectors that work on the fjord; due west and due east are limited, by the shallow reserve zone to the north and by fishing nets to the south.
• The same westerly is straight onshore on the North Sea beach a short walk over the dune.

What the spot record warns about

• Protected bird-reserve zones and seasonal closures on Nissum Fjord; follow the posted map at the campsite.
• Dominant WSW wind is offshore from the main fjord launch, so beginners should stay in the supervised/shallow area and avoid drifting into deeper parts.
• North Sea side can have powerful waves, shorebreak, rips/undertow and strong current.
• Rocks and harbour jetties on/near the North Sea surf spot.
• Current near the harbour/sluice varies depending on whether the sluice is open or closed.
• Cold water and wind chill outside high summer.
