Hvide Sande Molen is the North Sea wave spot at Sydmolen, just south of the harbour entrance where Ringkobing Fjord meets the sea.
Hvide Sande Nord is the fjord side of Hvide Sande: Ringkøbing Fjord, not the North Sea, launched from WestWind Nord at Gytjevej 15. The fjord is shallow and flat with a sandy bottom and a wide standing-depth area, which is why the schools teach here and why the launch is packed in June, July, August and September.
Kloster is the flat-water launch on the north side of Ringkøbing Fjord, off Baggersvej on the road between Søndervig and Ringkøbing.
Thorsminde sits on Bøvling Klit, the strip of dune between the North Sea and Nissum Fjord, and the kiting happens on the fjord side at Thorsminde Camping.

The current on the sea side is the thing that catches people, not the waves: it drags south and parks you between the beach and the sandbanks, so this side is not where you learn and not where you ride alone.

GKA Kite-Surf World Cup Hvide Sande

The GKA Kite World Tour ran a World Cup stop at Hvide Sande, reportedly a one-off in 2021 with later editions cancelled; the 2026 GKA calendar (Le Barcarès, Borkum, Sylt) no longer lists it, so the stop is discontinued.
Is Hvide Sande suitable for beginners?
The fjord side north of town is shallow and flat, widely used for lessons and progression, while the North Sea side south of the harbour mole is a serious wave spot for more experienced riders.
Do I need a car?
Yes, a car or camper van is considered essential here; there is little to do around Hvide Sande without one.
Where should I base myself?
Dune-side campsites such as Dancamps Holmsland and Hvide Sande Camping put you first-row by the beach and are set up for camper vans.
What should I know before visiting?
Most restaurants and shops close on Sundays, and this is a working fishing town rather than a resort, so evenings are quiet.
