Wind on the beach

• The shore here faces north-east.
• E and NE arrive onshore, N runs cross-onshore, SE is cross-shore, and S, SSE and SW blow off the land.
• S, SSE, E, NE and N all get ridden, so part of the working range is offshore water for people who can handle it; lessons run only when the wind is blowing toward the beach and otherwise move to another coast.
• Orientation derived from the coastline, not from a measured wind rose at the launch.

What the spot record warns about

• No lifeguard at the unofficial Engure Beach; the Health Inspectorate does not inspect that swimming place or take water analyses.
• Harbour/port traffic and a 40 m ship channel near Engure port; port rules require COLREG compliance in the port aquatory and restrict/organize vessel movements.
• Mixed beach material at the deep-flat entry: sand, rocks, grass.
• Grey dune habitat at Engure Beach: use established beach access/boardwalks and avoid dune damage.
• Cold Baltic water outside high summer; winter water averages close to 0-3 C.
• Stones in the water and a ship wreck along this stretch; both are named locally as things to keep clear of.
