modelled
A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it. Good for comparing places, weaker for one beach.
Modelled from weather reanalysis on a 10–25 km grid (2022-2024), not a ground station: reliable for trade and synoptic winds, understates thermal sea breezes and valley winds. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

Type
mixed
Standing depth
You can stand in the calm inside water; it gets deep once you are riding out toward the reef and the swell.
Tides
Micro-tidal, and the tide is not part of the session plan. Heights swing between roughly 0.0 and 0.4 m, usually one high and one low across a day, so the inside stays shallow and the reef outside stays a reef whatever the clock says. Wind and swell decide the day here, not water level.
Temperature
27.7°C summer · 26.8°C winter
Wetsuit
None. Boardshorts, and a rash vest for the sun.

Rider tips
- Skip Arashi unless you can hold upwind in offshore wind on a small kite, or you have booked boat cover with a Fisherman's Huts school beforehand.
- Ask at a Fisherman's Huts school or a local rider whether the before-10:00/after-17:00 kite rule is being enforced this year; accounts differ and there is no official word.
- Launch and land well away from the snorkelers and families on the inside; to visitors this is a swimming beach first.
- Wear reef booties for the coral shelf and the urchins, and do not stand on the coral.
- Use the Fisherman's Huts forecast and the airport station; there are no wind statistics for Arashi itself.
- Get there early for parking and a palapa in the November-April high season and on weekends.

FAQ
When is the best time to kitesurf at Arashi Beach?
January through August is the best-supported season, with wind probability cited above 80 percent from December to August and lighter, less dependable wind from September to November.
Is Arashi Beach suitable for beginners?
No. The spot listing shows intermediate to expert rider ability, since the trade wind is offshore here and the water is deeper once riding out toward the reef; beginners should use nearby Fisherman's Huts instead.
What is the wind like?
Northeast to east trade wind blows all day without a thermal pattern, typically 18 to 25 knots, with lighter days around 15 to 20 knots and stronger days reaching 30 to 35 knots.
Are there rules or restricted hours?
Posted rules conflict: one source states kiting at Arashi is allowed only before 10:00 and after 17:00, while another lists no rules, so verify locally before rigging.
What hazards should I know about?
The wind is offshore, so losing ground can quickly become serious, and no dedicated rescue service is verified at Arashi; the site also has reef, rocks and reported sea urchins.
