Coral Cove sits on the southeast side of the Lance aux Epines peninsula in Saint George, Grenada, about 4 km east of Maurice Bishop International Airport. Behind the reef the inner lagoon goes flat and shallow at high tide; outside it, small waves break on the reef.
The wind is the easterly trade wind, straight onshore, and the best months are January-June and November-December. It is marked for intermediate and expert riders, not beginners: the sand launch is small, with trees behind it, and the water holds coral, currents, swimmers and boat traffic.
Get the tide wrong and low water puts your board and fins into coral, so plan the session around high tide. The awkward part is the land. Grenada beaches are public, but Coral Cove Cottages reportedly disputes access across its grounds (2026), and coming in by sea avoids the argument.
Water is 28.4 C in summer and 27.3 C in winter, and nobody has published a wind average or a kite size for this beach.

modelled

A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it. Good for comparing places, weaker for one beach.

Modelled from weather reanalysis on a 10–25 km grid (2022-2024), not a ground station: reliable for trade and synoptic winds, understates thermal sea breezes and valley winds. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

Intermediate riders manage here and expert riders enjoy it. The tight launch, the straight-onshore wind, the reef and coral, and the mix of swimmers, currents and boat traffic keep it off the beginner list.

Rules & access
Grenada beaches are public (2026), but Coral Cove Cottages reportedly disputes ownership and access, and the land route across private ground can be refused. Check with management and keep clear of guests and snorkelers. Arriving, launching and landing from the sea avoids the disputed crossing.
Jumping over the reef damages it.

Access rules drift faster than anything else we hold — check locally, and propose an edit if this has changed.

Rider tips

  • Ride the top of the tide; at low water the coral takes board and fins.
  • Ask at Coral Cove Cottages, or ask a local rider, before you rig on the sand.
  • Launch and land off the water if the land route looks contested.
  • Give swimmers and snorkelers over the reef a wide berth.
  • Treat the straight-onshore E trade and the tight launch as an intermediate-plus problem, not a first-week one.
