Fuwairit Kite Beach

Fuwairit (Fuwayrit) is Qatar's flagship kite destination, a purpose-built beach on a tapered headland about 90km north of Doha, backed by the low rocky ridge of Jebel Fuwayrit. Qatar's consistent shamal winds made it a natural water-sports hub, and in 2022 Hilton opened the 50-room Fuwairit Kite Beach Resort (Tapestry Collection) directly on the beach, cementing it as an all-levels kite resort with powder-soft sand.

season notesDominated by the shamal (north-northwesterly wind), Qatar's prevailing and strongest wind system, most reliable in the cooler months roughly November through April; Doha-area station data shows average wind around 9kn with gusts to ~26kn, though beach-level conditions at a dedicated kite spot like Fuwairit are typically more consistently rideable than that broad airport average.

Monthly wind statistics

Station: Al Khawr (Al Khor) (weatherspark.com (NASA MERRA-2 reanalysis climatology), ~35 km) — Windfinder.com (the preferred source) returned HTTP 429 rate-limit errors on every attempt during this session and could not be fetched, likely due to concurrent load from parallel batch jobs; no other spot in this batch could reach windfinder either. Fell back to weatherspark.com, whose climatology is a reanalysis/model dataset (not a fixed weather-station record), so it has no station-years figure and does not publish a wind-probability-by-Beaufort-force table or full monthly wind-speed table (only a windiest/calmest-month summary, from which avg_knots per month could not be reliably derived without inventing numbers, hence null). Al Khawr (Al Khor) is the nearest weatherspark-covered town, roughly 35 km south of Fuwairit along the coast; text stated wind is 'from the north throughout the year' and the windy season runs ~Nov 12-Apr 13 (matches the known best-months window), peaking in February (11.4 mph) and calmest in September (7.6 mph). Water temperature only given as an annual range (67-92F) not a full monthly table, so left null rather than invented.
