Lago di Resia has no other spot on this map within 40 km of it. straight-line distance

Lago di Resia, Reschensee on the German-language signs, is an alpine reservoir at about 1,499-1,500 m at Graun/Curon, close to the Austrian and Swiss borders. The water is flat to lightly chopped, with a shallow area for learning and open lake for freestyle and foiling, and the water season runs May to October.
The north wind comes early and is colder and gustier; the south wind builds around midday and is the one that holds, squeezed by the mountains and the valley to roughly 7-27 knots. It is cold water.
The surface sits around 14-18 C in summer and only just under 20 C at its warmest, so a full wetsuit is normal in August.
Riding independently is not free-form here: you launch only from the Adrenalina club kite meadow at Graun, and you need a ticket or season card, a kite licence and liability insurance, at 25 EUR a day or 100 EUR for the season for an adult (2026).
Beginners are well served, with the kite meadow, the shallow practice area and boat-supported lessons at Caramba and Proboarder. Stay off the southern dam end, where the hydropower outflows are.

The water season is May to October, and in 2026 the club spot opened on 23 May. Lessons run on any windy day from May to September, and the summer school station is staffed from mid-May to the end of September.
Snowkiting runs from mid or late December to March and depends on snow, on ice and on the lake surface being officially opened.

modelled

A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it. Good for comparing places, weaker for one beach.

Modelled from the operational forecast archive at 1.5–7 km (2023-2024), daylight hours only, not a ground station: it resolves thermal, lake and valley winds far better than coarse reanalysis but still tends to understate a strong local thermal. A windy day has at least three consecutive daylight hours at 12 knots or more. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

Rider tips

  • Check the Adrenalina webcam before you drive: wind timing and whether a rescue boat is out both change day to day.
  • Bring warm neoprene even in midsummer, when the surface only reaches about 14-18 C.
  • Carry your kite licence and liability insurance if you plan to ride without a school.
  • Launch only from the Graun club kite meadow, and keep to the marked foil and tube-kite zones.
  • Stay away from the southern dam end and its hydropower outflows.
  • Bring warm neoprene even in midsummer. April water sits at 10-14 C and August tops out around 18 C mid-lake.
  • The ticket buys one boat rescue and a season card two; after that each callout is 10 EUR, and the boat is not out every day.
