The spot

Union Beach sits on the Panay mainland at Barangay Union/Sitio Mampusa, Nabas, just east of Caticlan and across the water from Boracay.

Wind and conditions

The draw is shallow, reef-protected flat water with a fraction of the crowd at Bulabog, which makes it a decent place to learn and a calm place to grind out transitions. The Amihan northeast trade season carries the spot, strongest November to March, with April still riding and the widest count running October-May. NE to ENE arrives onshore to side-onshore, and high tide is the one to aim for: smoother water, more clearance over the reef.

Logistics and skills

Blue Orange Ville is on the sand: rooms, lessons, rental, storage. Bring booties, because reef, shells, stones and urchins are all down there and how much water covers them depends on the hour. No 2026 municipal permit, zoning or seasonal kite rule turned up for Nabas, so ask the school or the barangay before you launch. Anyone chasing waves or a performance venue is in the wrong bay.

Airport

Godofredo P. Ramos Airport / Caticlan (MPH); Kalibo International Airport (KLO) is the longer alternative.

Route

From Caticlan airport it is about 5 km, a 10-15 minute tricycle ride to Union Beach and Blue Orange Ville.From Kalibo, take a van, bus or taxi toward Caticlan and Nabas, roughly 1.5 hours, then a local tricycle.Boracay is about 30 minutes away by boat and road transfer.Competent riders with local support also arrive by downwinder from Bulabog.
