Dadaepo sits at the mouth of the Nakdonggang River in Busan, and the river is what makes the spot: sand and silt spread into a broad, shallow beach far wider than anything else on the city coast.

Wind

It is not a high-wind resort. Published wind statistics are modest, but local reports point at rideable windows from September to May, on NW winter winds and on S/SW or NE systems either side of summer.

Water and launch

The water goes from flat and shallow to chop and small wind waves, with sand bars and tidal flats moving the usable area around as the tide drops. The launch is the reason to come: it ranks among the best settings for kiteboarding in Korea.

For beginners

Beginners get space and standing depth, though the river-mouth setting, the seasonal restrictions and cold winter water all argue for local guidance. Summer brings the beach users and the official swimming-season controls, and the local marine-leisure programs run then too, but the wind is usually light.

Getting there

Travel is the other easy part: Dadaepo Beach Station on Busan Metro Line 1 is a short walk from the sand, and Gimhae Airport is close by taxi.

Getting on the water

The launchVery wide sand beach at the mouth of the Nakdong, 900 m long and about 100 m deep, gently sloping, with the Molundae headland closing the eastern end. The sand and silt are river deposits; there are coastal dunes and ripple marks behind the beach and rock outcrops at the east end.Toilets, showers, changing rooms, drinking water and a foot-washing station at the beach park, plus food and parking. Dadaepo Beach Station exit 2 is a four-minute walk; navigate to 14 Morundae 1-gil, Saha-gu.

Summer season

2026: Dadaepo is an officially operated bathing beach from 1 July to 31 August, admission free. During the opening period, powered and non-powered water-leisure activity is prohibited inside the designated shoreline zone of 100 m, so kiting in July and August has to work outside that zone. No kite-specific permit, registration or club membership requirement is published.

Before you go

Buoy positions and the marked layout change year to year, so confirm the day's zoning with beach safety staff or the marine leisure centre on 070-7752-8683 before rigging; general beach enquiries go to Saha-gu on 051-220-4161.

Off-season

Outside the July-August season the beach is not operated and the 100 m restriction lapses with the opening period, and those out-of-season months are also the windier ones.
