El Médano is the rare kite town you can walk everywhere in: five minutes from TFS, and the beach, harbour and El Cabezo wave spot are all on foot from most beds. The town itself is real infrastructure, not a resort shell: a doctor's surgery, pharmacy, several (unnamed) banks and a shopping centre sit in the town centre, so day-to-day logistics work without a car; you only need one for La Tejita, Teide or the rest of the island. TITSA runs a dense bus network through town (at least 16 route numbers touch El Médano), though nobody has published the actual fare.

Where to stay

Hotel Médano, the town's 60-year-old beachfront anchor, sits at Calle Picachos 2 - standard rooms run ceiling fans, not AC, so don't assume climate control at the budget end. Casa Grande Surf Hostel remains the clearest budget base (dorms ~€21, doubles ~€50, ~300m to the beach) but neither its numeric rating nor its AC status is published on the property's own site.

Medical care

The persistent gap is medical: nobody has yet confirmed which hospital El Médano riders actually get sent to for anything beyond the in-town doctor's surgery. Aircraft noise is priced into where locals sleep; it's the trade for that five-minute airport hop.
