Máncora is Peru's best-known warm-water surf town and a real kite base on the northern Piura coast.
Vichayito is a strip of beach in Piura's Talara province, between Mancora and Los Organos, and the wind here is thermal: it fills in around midday and blows S, SSW or SW across a wide sandy launch.
Lobitos is a wave spot for riders who already know what they are doing, on the Piura coast, and the name gets stretched over several breaks that are not the same water.
Los Órganos is two things under one name: a wide sandy beach where the North Shore schools teach, and a set of surf breaks along the same coast called La Vuelta, Casablanca and El Codito.

Do you need a car?
No. Bus is the main way in and around, including a direct overnight Lima-Mancora service and frequent Piura-Mancora buses, with mototaxis covering local trips.
Where should you base yourself?
Mancora town centre puts you on top of the restaurants, bars and beach for a party-scene stay. Las Pocitas, just south, is quieter and more upscale but still close to town, while Vichayito further south gives real distance from the nightlife on the same thermal wind system.
Are there kite schools?
Lessons are available locally - a 3-day kitesurf course has been quoted around US$300.
What are the hazards?
Respect ocean and rip conditions and don't swim after drinking. Mototaxi drivers may overcharge tourists, so agree the fare before getting in.
