The spot

Los Órganos is two things under one name: a wide sandy beach where the North Shore schools teach, and a set of surf breaks along the same coast called La Vuelta, Casablanca and El Codito. The kite version is the beach, near Los Órganos and Vichayito, with a sandy bottom, deep water, small chop and no rideable wave.

Wind

Wind comes in side to side-onshore, usually building from late morning around 11:00, and it tends to run a bit stronger than Máncora Point on a light day, which is why schools drive down here when the point is dead.

Season and access

June through November is the honest window, July-October the best of it. Access is easy: paved road through town, wide beach, no 4x4 needed, and hardly anyone else kiting.

Swell and beginners

What changes the day is swell. When it is big the shorebreak turns heavy and this stops being a beginner beach, so a first session is worth booking through a school rather than assuming the sand is enough.

Sandy bottom and an easy shorebreak, then deep water. There is no shallow shelf to walk out on, so a body-drag here is a swim rather than a stroll, and lessons are run accordingly. Legal protections

2022: Resolución Directoral N.° 079-2022 registers the wave breaks at Casa Blanca, Los Órganos and La Vuelta under Ley 27280, the law protecting surf breaks; the regime names kitesurf among the covered disciplines and takes in the break itself plus an adjacent strip reaching up to 1 km along the coast on each side.

Municipal and current rules

2024: Municipalidad Distrital de Los Órganos Ordenanza Municipal N.° 006-2024-MDLO declares buoy-marked exclusive swimmer-safety areas in the sea at district beaches. 2025 reporting cites Ordenanza Municipal N.° 011-2015-MDLO-CM prohibiting motorized vehicle circulation in coastal zones. No 2026 kitesurf-specific permit, school authorization or kite zoning rule for Los Órganos is published, and the municipal ordinance text is not available online.

Access rules drift faster than anything else we hold — check locally, and propose an edit if this has changed.

Ask the school which Los Órganos they mean: the teaching beach, Punta Veleros, El Ñuro or La Vuelta.
As a beginner, stay off the beach when a large swell is loading the shorebreak.
If Máncora is marginal, drive to Los Órganos or El Ñuro instead of waiting at the point, because the southern spots are usually windier.
Bring kites covering 15-30 kt in peak season; 6-12 m is the local guidance for June-November at average rider weight.
Keep clear of La Vuelta, Casablanca and El Codito when surfers are on them.
Do not plan a morning session. The wind comes in around 11:00, and El Ñuro up the road switches on an hour or two earlier if you want the extra time.
On a low tide, watch the fins. Rocks sit on an otherwise sandy bottom and come up close to the surface.

Talara / Cap. FAP Víctor Montes Arias Airport (TYL) is the closest airport cited near Organos; Piura (PIU) is the larger regional alternative and Lima (LIM) is the long-haul gateway.

Route

From Piura, a paved public-bus route reaches the EPPO Los Órganos terminal in about 168 km and 2 h 54 min, then 700 m and 3 min by mototaxi to Playa Los Órganos.From the Talara terminal it is 67 km and 1 h 15 min by public bus plus the same short mototaxi hop.From Máncora, buses and taxis run down, then walk, taxi or mototaxi to the Punta Veleros area.
