More on Alzour Beach
The water runs flat to choppy, with small waves when a stronger onshore wind builds. The prevailing wind is the northwest Shamal, which can push past 30 kt in a summer episode, though the monthly averages sit at 7-10 kt and the 194 days of wind a year on the books are counted at a 4 Bft threshold. June and July are the two months rated great, and they fall inside the stretch from June through September when the heat itself is the limiting factor. Getting in is more awkward than at Power Plant Beach. You park by the road, take the stairs over the oil pipeline and walk about 50 m to the water, with cliffs on one side and the Texaco oil port on the other. The published level ratings contradict each other, so treat them as unconfirmed and talk to a local before you rig.
Getting on the water
Long sandy beach near the Texaco oil port/Mina Said area, with no direct car access: park by the road, cross the oil pipeline using stairs and walk about 50 m to the beach.
If it goes wrong
Nothing organised. No lifeguard, no club, no rescue boat: the neighbours are oil-port operations, not a beach service. Emergencies go to 112, the single national number. The nearest kite operation is up the coast around Al Khiran, not here, so plan on self-rescue and do not go out alone.
Room to rig
Plenty of room: a long sandy beach with space to lay out several kites well apart.
Rules and access
2026: no kite-specific rule turned up for this beach, so country law is what applies. Talk to a local before you ride, and expect that a permit, a membership or an access change could appear without being published anywhere you can read in advance.
