They work mainly as sheltered Levante backups on days when Tarifa itself is overpowered, with Algeciras often receiving a milder 16-25 knot version of the same easterly wind.
Do you need a car?
Yes, to move between Tarifa town, Valdevaqueros and the Algeciras Bay spots, and for day trips, though Tarifa's old town itself is walkable.
Where should you base yourself?
Tarifa old town has the most atmosphere and nightlife; Los Barrios or Algeciras city offer a cheaper, quieter base near Getares and Palmones.
Is kite gear rental available?
Yes, rental and storage are widely available given the size of the Tarifa kite scene.
