South Holland's spots cluster around Rotterdam's port and The Hague's coast, and most of them are stacked against beginners: NKV rates Scheveningen, Ouddorp, Maasvlakte 2's Slufter and Oostvoornse Meer as advanced water, while Hoek van Holland demands current management right where the Nieuwe Waterweg shipping channel meets the sea.

Kijkduin's Zandmotor lagoon, built by a coastal sand project, is the one shallow exception in the region.
