Poé Beach at Bourail is the easy entry, a wide shallow lagoon that's beginner-friendly, while Îlot Maître and Îlot Goéland do the same job by boat from the capital. Anse Vata's freestyle line — Le Méridien, Pointe Magnin — is flat but cross-offshore, built for riders who can hold upwind, and Passe de Dumbéa's reef break, ten nautical miles out, is boat-access expert water only.
