- Vehicle access to the main North Flats lot has been restricted pending a local permitting process - check current access before planning a trip
- Reach the flats via pedestrian dune paths where vehicle access is closed
- As of 2026, vehicle access to the traditional North Flats area is restricted; expect walking access through dunes unless a local update says otherwise.
- Private/leased land and evolving city venue construction/permitting can change practical access quickly; verify with local shops or SPI Windsurfing & Kiteboarding Association before driving to the flats.
- Seagrass beds are extensive in Laguna Madre and can catch fins, foils and lines; avoid trampling or scarring seagrass.
