Wind on the beach

  • Cross-shore on the lagoon's north shore in the dominant westerlies.
  • On the Vistula Lagoon, any direction outside the southerly-to-easterly quadrant counts as comfortable riding wind; southerlies come onshore here and northerlies offshore.

What the spot record warns about

  • Fishing nets go in unexpected places on the Vistula Lagoon; look for poles with flags and diamond markers, and expect line in the water between them.
  • NNE-NE winds can run along the lagoon, build chop and raise water level on the Polish side by about 0.7-0.9 m.
  • Wind can become gusty and uneven near trees, buildings or high banks; choose open launch areas.
  • Cold Baltic/Lagoon water outside peak summer; winter water averages around 2-3 C.
  • Port/marina traffic near the Bojerowców base and guarded swimming areas on the sea beach in summer require separation from swimmers and boats.
  • Fishing nets go in unexpected places on the Vistula Lagoon. A net marked with poles and flags usually shows three poles: two flags on each outer pole, a single flag at the middle of the net. Where two-colour diamonds are used instead, the red face is the side with line in the water and the white face is the theoretically clear passage.
