Poland's kite scene runs along two Baltic sand spits: the Hel Peninsula, where Chałupy, Jastarnia and Kuźnica share Puck Bay's shallow flat water, and the Vistula Spit, where Krynica Morska and Kąty Rybackie ride the lagoon behind the dunes.

Dąbki adds a third option inland, pairing Lake Bukowo's flat shallows with a Baltic beach when the wind swings onshore. The season runs roughly May to October, with Puck Bay rated one of the safest learning waters in Europe. It's a sporty, family-friendly circuit reached by train, not a party coast.

EU passportFree movement - Poland is an EU/Schengen member state; EU passport/ID holders need no visa and no stay-length limit.
US passportVisa-free within the Schengen 90 days in any 180-day period rule (the standard Schengen baseline).
UK passportVisa-free 90 days in any 180-day period (2026). Passport must have been issued less than 10 years before arrival and remain valid 3+ months after planned departure from the Schengen area. The EU's Entry/Exit System (EES) now requires fingerprint and photo biometric registration for short-stay non-EU visitors at the border, free of charge but it can add delays.

Paying by phoneBLIK is Poland's dominant mobile instant-payment system (code-based payments and transfers from a linked Polish bank account app), widely used in shops, restaurants and P2P.Historically tied to having a Polish bank account, though some foreign digital banks and neobanks (e.g. Revolut) have rolled out BLIK support for their app users in Poland in recent years; whether a short-term foreign tourist without a Polish account can use it is unclear.
Scams
  • Unofficial taxis and ride-share bookings: passengers have been attacked, including sexual assaults, in unofficial taxis and cars booked using ride share apps; use only official taxis with a visible company name and rate card.
  • Drink spiking in bars followed by robbery or bill overcharging.
  • General street crime targeting foreigners' valuables at train stations and tourist areas, especially after dark.

SIM & internet

NotesPlay, Orange, T-Mobile and Plus are the four national mobile operators, and Poland has required ID-linked prepaid SIM registration since 2016. Coverage on the Hel Peninsula itself is unconfirmed.

Insurance

RecommendedEU/UK travelers should still carry adequate travel/health insurance; UK EHIC/GHIC-style reciprocal healthcare does not fully replace comprehensive travel insurance for costs like repatriation.
