Bol / Zlatni Rat
One of the most iconic spots on the Adriatic: a pebble beach next to the shape-shifting Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape) promontory on Brač island, backed by the 778m Vidova Gora, the highest peak of any Adriatic island. Bol is historically best known as a windsurfing destination - the long-running Big Blue Sport center operates windsurfing (not kitesurfing) from Borak beach next to Zlatni Rat - and the wind resource is the thermally-enhanced Maestral that builds through the afternoon in the warmer months.

| season notes | Maestral (NW thermal sea breeze) builds through the day and is most reliable in the warmer months; strength and reliability are what made Bol a long-established board-sports destination. |

| direction to shore | cross-onshore, NW |
| quality | thermal |
Water
| type | pebble beach, flat-to-light-chop |
|---|---|
| tides | Minimal Adriatic tidal range. |

| advanced | yes |
| notes | Long-established board-sports beach; Zlatni Rat's tip itself is a very popular swimming beach, so kite launching is generally away from the most crowded part of the cape. |
Launch & crowd
| description | Beach launch from Borak, next to Zlatni Rat. |
|---|---|
| busy months |
|
| vibe | One of Croatia's most photographed beaches - very touristy around the cape itself; the long-running windsurf/kayak/SUP center (Big Blue Sport) anchors the board-sports scene from Borak beach. |
Hazards
- Zlatni Rat tip is heavily used by swimmers/tourists in peak season - crowding is a real factor near the cape
- Pebble beach entry underfoot
Tips
- Vidova Gora (778m) above Bol gives a well-known viewpoint over Zlatni Rat and the islands of Hvar and Vis - a good no-wind excursion.
