Kokrobite Beach has no other spot on this map within 40 km of it. straight-line distance

Kokrobite is a beach town 30 km west of Accra with white sand and an exposed beach break, lefts and rights, and it is a surf town first. Wind is reportedly cross-onshore at 15-25 km/h, roughly 8-13 kt, around mid-year, which is light for a twin-tip.
The kite months named for it are December to February, and the surf peaks in January when the south swell meets the north offshore wind. Winter water sits at 23-24 C, so the rashguard is for the sun. Rocks sit in the line-up and the break is inconsistent, which is the part to know before flying in for it.
It suits an intermediate or better who is already comfortable in a beach break; there is no flat-water corner here. Nights are backpackers and expats, live music and beach bars, busiest in December and January, with Big Milly's Backyard in the middle of it.

A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it. Good for comparing places, weaker for one beach.

Modelled from weather reanalysis on a 10–25 km grid (2020-2024), not a ground station: reliable for trade and synoptic winds, understates thermal sea breezes and valley winds. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

    Rider tips

    • Time it for December to February; January is when the south swell meets the north offshore wind.
    • Pack your biggest kite: cross-onshore at 15-25 km/h, roughly 8-13 kt, will not fill a small one.
    • Find the rocks in the line-up before you ride the inside.
    • Ask at Big Milly's Backyard where people are launching; the kiting here sits inside the surf scene rather than beside it.
    • Fly into Accra, 21 km away, and go 30 km west by road.
    • Book a drumming or dance lesson at the Academy of African Music and Arts for the days with nothing on the water.
