Pollensa Bay
A sheltered bay in northern Mallorca, framed by the Tramuntana mountains and Cap Formentor, that is notable as the officially authorized kitesurfing area of Mallorca. Reliable thermal sea breeze builds through the afternoon over flat, shallow, crystal-clear water, making it the island's best-known learner-friendly spot.

Monthly wind statistics
Station: Pollença (Weatherspark (MERRA-2 reanalysis model), ~10 km) — Station is the town of Pollença, ~10 km inland/SW of Pollensa Bay itself; the bay is more open to the sea breeze and likely records higher and more consistent thermal wind than this inland station. Windfinder.com returned HTTP 429 (rate-limited) on every attempt for this batch, so no wind-probability->=4Bft table could be obtained. Fallback used: Weatherspark.com, which provides monthly ALL-HOUR average wind speed (calm+windy hours averaged, not exceedance probability), a qualitative seasonal wind-direction narrative, and modeled air/sea surface temperature. Weatherspark's climate figures come from a multi-decade satellite/reanalysis model (not a physical anemometer at the spot), so treat avg_knots as indicative only, not a true kiteable-wind-probability metric. dominant_dir is a coarse per-month assignment inferred from Weatherspark's seasonal-window prose, not a precise per-month rose.

Hazards
- crowded beach on July-August weekends
- narrow beach with limited dry setup space
- onshore wind can drift beginners toward shore or trees
Rules
- This is the officially recognized/authorized kitesurfing zone in Mallorca; Spanish coastal law requires staying clear of swimmer areas near shore
Tips
- Go early or on weekdays in July-August to avoid the crowds
- Wind builds through the afternoon, so late morning is for rigging, not riding
