The spot

Uvero Alto is the kite option at the north end of the Punta Cana resort strip, and the honest version is that the wind is the weak part.

Wind and season

Punta Cana sits in Puerto Rico's wind shadow, so the trades that make Cabarete work arrive here lighter and less often; November and December are the useful months, with a longer November-April window quoted for Punta Cana in general, and the more rideable hours tend to be very early morning or late evening because the thermal effects here often run at night.

Water and access

Come for the water, not the wind. A reef shelters a lagoon of waist- to chest-deep calm water for lessons, and the reef breaks outside carry more surf than the Bavaro or Macao beaches.

The beach is resort-controlled around Zoetry Agua Punta Cana, so nobody just walks up with a kite; the KBS school works from there. Fewer kiters than anywhere on the north coast, which is the appeal if you are already booked into the strip.

If the kite trip is the point, go to Cabarete or drive to Las Terrenas instead.

Nothing dedicated to this beach. The school that carried the Uvero Alto name now works from Cabeza de Toro, closes from June to early December 2026, and charges 30 dollars an hour to supervise an independent rider on its own water.

A rescue service and a medical centre cover the wider Punta Cana kite area, not this launch in particular.

2026: no municipal or maritime kite rule published for Uvero Alto. Several of the kitesurfing beaches on the Punta Cana strip charge for access and this one does not, though the sand in front of the resorts is theirs to control, and the school that carried the beach's name has moved south to Cabeza de Toro.

Plan sessions for very early morning or late evening; the thermal effects around Punta Cana often run at night and midday is usually the lightest part of the day.
Aim for November or December; outside those two months count on light days and treat any wind as a bonus.
Learn where the reef sits before your first session outside the lagoon; it is close to shore and the breaks are on it.
If the week looks flat, Las Terrenas is the day trip or overnight for stronger wind; the wake park near Punta Cana city center covers a single dead day.
