Vourvourou

also known as Vourvourou Bay, Βουρβουρού

beginner-friendly

Vourvourou has no other spot on this map within 40 km of it. straight-line distance

Vourvourou sits on the east side of the Sithonia peninsula in Halkidiki, a sheltered bay with the islets around Diaporos scattered across it. People kite here. That is close to all this record can stand behind: no season, no usable wind directions, no typical strength, no confirmed launch.
The water is clear and the beaches are easy to walk a kite off, but the islets throw lee patches and the bay carries boat traffic and swimmers through the summer. A watersports outfit works out of the village, though its own material covers windsurf, sailing and SUP rental rather than kite teaching.
Take it as a foil or light freeride detour while you are in Halkidiki for other reasons, not as a trip planned around wind.

modelled

A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it. Good for comparing places, weaker for one beach.

Modelled from weather reanalysis on a 10–25 km grid (2022-2024), not a ground station: reliable for trade and synoptic winds, understates thermal sea breezes and valley winds. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

Rider tips

  • Rig on open sand, clear of the organized swimming areas and the boat-rental frontage.
  • Plan your line to stay upwind of the Diaporos islets; they leave lee patches across the bay.
  • Watch for boat traffic in summer, when rental boats work the same water.
  • Ask at the village watersports outfit which beach the local kiters use, because nothing published names it.
  • Bring everything, including a spare bar: no kite school and no kite rental is confirmed here.
