Is Herzliya good for beginners?

Yes - the marina and adjacent breakwaters at HaTzuk create sheltered coves used for teaching, and nearby Netanya's Poleg Beach is one of Israel's better-known training beaches with a wide, mostly sandy shoreline.

Do I need a car?

Not mandatory - Herzliya sits on the coastal train line and several bus routes connect it to Tel Aviv - but a car is convenient since the town also sits directly on the coastal highway.

Where should I base myself?

Herzliya Pituach's beachfront puts you within walking distance of the marina/HaTzuk kite zone with upscale hotels and condos; Tel Aviv, about 15-20km south, offers a bigger nightlife and food scene at lower cost.

Should I plan around Shabbat?

Yes - as elsewhere in Israel, transit and many businesses close from Friday afternoon to Saturday evening.
