Train to the city center takes 15-20 minutes (~$4); taxis run about $40 (meter required by law unless pre-arranged); bus 445 takes 30-50 minutes. Train service is limited on Shabbat, and reaching/leaving the airport on Shabbat itself can be difficult.

  1. The riding calendar here skips high summer, and not only because of the wind. The months riders name are the shoulder seasons and winter; in July and August kiting off the city beach is not permitted at all and people leave for Eilat or the Sea of Galilee.

  2. The winter fronts that make the season here are also what riders now warn each other about: on 9 January 2026 a storm off Bat Yam produced a waterspout that lifted two riders off the water, one of whom did not survive.

  3. There is a rulebook as well as a forecast. Between April and June and again in September and October the city beach is closed to kites on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays; the beaches further up the coast carry no restrictions at all.
