Before you book

• Named hospital, finally: Binh Thuan General Hospital (Benh vien Da khoa Binh Thuan) on Ton That Bach street in Phan Thiet, ~20 km from the strip, with a 24/7 emergency line 0252 38 22 733 and full internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and cardiology departments.
• The strip has a real public-transport spine: buses No. 1 and No. 9 run Phan Thiet to Mui Ne 06:00-19:00 every 20-30 minutes for 11,000 VND, or 8,000 VND for hops within the strip. After 19:00 it is scooter, xe om (10,000-15,000 VND) or Grab.
• Nguyen Dinh Chieu runs about 15 km through the resort area, with even street numbers on the sea side and odd numbers inland. That is why 'on the strip' is not a location: no. 16 (C2SKY), no. 24 (Sailing Club) and no. 90 (Jibe's) are kilometres apart.
• Every kite service on this beach is now priced in public: lessons 100-950, full-set rental 38/hour to 400/week, storage 5-8/day up to 380 for six months, HCMC airport transfer 85 one-way, jeep dune tour 29 per vehicle. Nothing about a Mui Ne kite trip needs to be negotiated blind.
• Sports-specific insurance is treated as mandatory by the schools here, not optional - KITENAM makes it a booking condition and notes it costs only marginally more than standard travel cover. Standard policies exclude kitesurfing.
• Jibe's Beach Club, listed as a stay in the draft, has no rooms. It is a bar, restaurant and watersports centre at 90 Nguyen Dinh Chieu running since 2000, open from 07:00, with a Saturday-night BBQ and free fibre wifi. Excellent hangout, not a bed.
• Sailing Club Resort publishes real room specs: Sapa Garden View 29.5 m2, Superior 42 m2, Superior and Deluxe Garden View Bungalows 42-47 m2 with terrace lounges and semi-open-air bathrooms, Deluxe Beachfront Bungalow 47 m2, plus a 200 m2 four-bedroom villa for 8 with a kitchenette. • Dune-tour prices now have a public floor: 29 per jeep for up to five people buys the full sunrise (04:30 pickup) or sunset (14:00 pickup) circuit - Lotus Lake white dunes, red-dune sandboarding, fishing village, Fairy Stream. Agency per-person tours run US$7-13. Entrance tickets themselves are trivial: 10,000 VND for the White Dunes, 10,000 VND for Fairy Stream, 5,000 VND to park a motorbike.
• Cam Ranh (Nha Trang) is a trap as an alternative arrival airport: KITENAM says reaching Mui Ne from Cam Ranh independently is 'essentially impossible' and only a private transfer works, at US$60-70 and 1-1.5 hours longer than from Saigon.

• Mui Ne finally has published kite sizes: 9 m2 for a 75-80 kg rider in the typical 15-25 knot cross-onshore NE monsoon, 7 m2 on the strongest days. Phan Rang is 6 m2 in winter and 10 m2 in summer - a full size-and-a-half apart, which is exactly why riders bother with the 2.5-3 hour drive.
• The day has a shape: soft in the morning, steady and strong in the afternoon, gustiest at the back end. Schools deliberately teach beginners before lunch and send experienced riders out after it.
• Water is 24-26 C through the season - no wetsuit, ever. Bring a lycra for sun, not warmth, and sunglasses with a strap and float.
• Malibu is not just flatter inshore - offshore it holds clean 1-2 m waves, up to 3.5 m on the strongest days. Mui Ne is a wave spot with a protected teaching lagoon in front of it, which is a very different thing from the 'choppy mess' the old forum threads describe.
• Phan Rang's My Hoa lagoon is 4 km long and 500 m wide of flat water, but at low tide the bottom dries out and exposes dead coral and riding stops. A Phan Rang day trip that ignores the tide table is a wasted six hours in a van.

• Mui Ne was a sleepy fishing village until tourism took off around the October 24, 1995 total solar eclipse, which drew visitors and put the coastline on the map
• It built its reputation through the 2000s as windsurfing gave way to kitesurfing, earning the informal title of Vietnam's (and one of Southeast Asia's) main kitesurfing hubs

• Which ATMs on the Nguyen Dinh Chieu strip currently accept foreign Visa/Mastercard, what is the per-withdrawal cap, and what fee do they charge? Only ACB is named anywhere; a rider who has withdrawn cash this season could name the machine and the fee.
• How often does mains power actually cut on the Ham Tien/Mui Ne strip during December-March, how long do cuts last, and do any of the kite stations or guesthouses run generators or UPS? No EVN ward-level statistic is published and no property advertises backup.
• Is there any ward or provincial regulation on kite launch zones, separation from swimmers, or jet-ski corridors on Ham Tien and Mui Ne beach - and if a dispute happens on the water, who enforces it? Nothing is published; the beach appears to self-organise by station.
• Hour by hour in January-February, what time does the NE monsoon typically fill in and what time does it drop? Operators say 'soft morning, steady afternoon' but nobody publishes clock times.
• Is there a clinic or doctor on the strip itself that can handle reef cuts, stitches, ear infections or a dislocated shoulder without a 20 km run to Phan Thiet - and which pharmacy on Nguyen Dinh Chieu is open late?
• Does Sailing Club Resort Mui Ne at 24 Nguyen Dinh Chieu occupy the former Mia Resort Mui Ne premises, and is it the same ownership? The domain evidence points that way but no company statement confirms it.
• What does a Grab car from Phan Thiet railway station to Ham Tien actually cost in 2026, and is Grab reliably available at the 11:30 train arrival?
• Is anyone actually stopped for flying a drone at the White Dunes or over the kite beach, and has any local operator obtained a permit? Vietnam requires drone authorisation in principle but no Mui Ne-specific enforcement account exists.
• Which nationalities currently get 45 days visa-free versus needing an e-visa? A kite school's FAQ claims 'most nationalities get 45 days visa-free', which overstates a policy that applies to a specific short list - riders should confirm against the immigration authority for their passport.
• Has Phan Thiet Airport's civil terminal been given an opening date, and are any airlines filing schedules into PHA?
• Do the beach stations charge day-pass access to riders who bring their own gear and do not rent - and is the 100,000 VND KITENAM day pass typical of the other centres?
• What does a bus from HCMC to Mui Ne cost now, and what do scooter and kite rental run per day?
