Gokova Bay (Akyaka)
Turkey's flagship thermal-wind kite spot, at the head of a wide, sheltered, shallow bay near the pine-backed resort village of Akyaka. A near-daily afternoon thermal and a mostly sandy, shallow bottom make it one of the most reliable and beginner-friendly spots in the Aegean, though the school-lined beach gets crowded and choppier water starts further offshore.

Station: Marmaris (Windfinder, ~23.5 km) — Akyaka/Gokova itself has no windfinder statistics; nearest available station is Marmaris, ~23.5 km away across/around the Gokova Gulf entrance. Gokova Bay is well known for a strong, highly reliable local thermal (meltemi-fed katabatic/valley) wind funneled down the bay in summer -- Marmaris, sitting outside that funnel, will systematically understate Gokova's own wind (annual avg here is only 3 kt, far below Gokova's reputation). Treat this station's numbers as unrepresentative of the spot itself. Windfinder's current site design no longer publishes the monthly wind-probability(>=4Bft)/avg-knots table as text -- it is only rendered as an unlabeled bar chart (confirmed on Tarifa, Talat Yai and other well-known spots too, so this is a site-wide change, not a data gap for this station).
